On April 21 at 10 a.m., DC's former first lady, Cora Masters Barry, wife of ex-Mayor Marion Barry, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the grand opening of the $5.1 million Southeast Tennis and Learning Center. The Center, was the brain of Masters-Barry. The facility consists of six outdoor courts and four indoor courts, a fitness center, a computer center, a media room, community room, classrooms, locker rooms, a tennis pro shop and a fully equipped playground. The Center is located at Seventh Street and Mississippi Avenue, SE.

Tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams, will be on hand for free tennis clinics along with former stars Pam Shriver and Zina Garrison. Then at 7 p.m., the focus shifts to the indoor courts as they will be transformed into a dance hall for a tennis ball, again featuring the Williams sisters; entertainment will be provided by Grammy Award-winner Yolanda Adams.
